Dr Chamion Caballero is the Director and co-founder of The Mixed Museum (TMM), a digital museum preserving the history of racial mixing in Britain (
www.mixedmuseum.org.uk). In 2021, TMM’s ‘Brown Babies of WW2’ exhibition won the Museum Association’s ‘Museums Change Lives’ award for best digital engagement. Chamion has held academic posts at the University of Bristol and London South Bank University, and Senior Visiting Fellowships at the LSE and Goldsmiths. In 2023, she was appointed one of six European-wide Research Fellows by the Independent Social Research Foundation. Chamion’s work has been published widely in academic books, journals and government reports, including for the Department of Education and Runnymede Trust. Her historical research with Peter Aspinall formed the foundations of the 2011 BBC2 series
Mixed Britannia, on which she also acted as an academic consultant.
