About me
Vanessa Sauls is an interdisciplinary inclusion practitioner and published legal scholar with an interest in jurisprudence, philosophy, sociology, and behavioural science.
Working in the private, public and charity sectors, she developed a passion for cultural development and social change at the organisational level. In September 2021, she joined The Francis Crick Institute as Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Advisor and was promoted to the role of EDI Manager in 2024.
In 2016, Vanessa graduated from Queen Mary, University of London with a thesis on feminist legal theory, rewriting two seminal European Court of Human Rights’ abortion rights case law: A, B, C v Ireland and P and S v Poland. Her thesis, "Rewriting Reproductive Rights: Applying Feminist Methodology to the European Court of Human Rights’ Abortion Jurisprudence" was published on University of Kent's feminists@law journal in 2017.
In her current role, Vanessa draws from her experience as a feminist lawyer and intersectional theorist to lead on the Crick's Inclusion Strategy.
